BACK FROM CENTRAL COAST - SAN LUIS OBISPO AREA

We went up for a visit to my sister's place and had a great time running around for four days, or rather walking, all the good trails and some coastline up there. These photos were taken at Seal Beach and show the amount of collapse of some of the cliffs. This was all due to the rains we had back in 2010 and 2011 when so much flooding occurred.

This year so far has been dry and we might be looking at a little rain coming in, in about a week.

I love this area and as far as I can predict ahead, I think we could find ourselves living there in a couple of years. The rents aren't really that high for a modest 3 bedroom place for ourselves.

This last summer, their temperatures never reached over 75 degrees - while we living inland saw temps at times up to 105 with high humidity.

We have almost constant wind where we live. A few days are calm and then the wind starts up again. It makes it hard to get walks in without having to drive a few towns over to check to see if it's windy there.
We live in short of a wind tunnel area - the winds coming down from the 15 freeway that heads to Vegas.
If you have heard of Cajon (pronounced Cahone) Pass in the news (where a lot of fires break out) then we aren't too far from there..

There is a property along the coastal road that has a mansion on it with their own little lighthouse. The lighthouse is pictured in this bottom photo. The house in the background is a separate house, not belonging to the mansion property.

We have a few places we like to revisit when we go there - a restaurant called Rosa's landing where they have a really good clam chowder, then there is Woodstock pizza in SLO (San Luis Obispo), and can't leave out Laura's Place (my sis) - where she serves a wonderful homemade Pesto Chicken Pizza and
a variety of other dishes.

I'm sure we will be back in another month or so. It only takes us about 4 hours to drive there and now that we have no yard work or maintenance to speak of where we live now, it's a given not too much time will pass before the next trip.
